Au cœur du Val de Loire

Around the year 1000, two great lords, Foulques Nerra, Count of Anjou, and Eudes I, Count of Blois, fought over Touraine. At the end of the 10th century, Foulques Nerra conquered the stronghold of Langeais, between Tours and Saumur, then built a fortress on the promontory overlooking the Loire.

Château de Langeais, built in the 15th century facing the ruins of this earlier structure, was once a royal domain and is now owned by the Institut de France. It is one of the great heritage sites of the Loire Valley. Located close to Tours, at the heart of the Loire Valley, it offers a tour of fifteen rooms furnished with richly carved medieval furniture. Langeais, a Loire château dating from the Renaissance era, will surprise you with its park planted with cedars and sequoias.
